Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a within the Population Health - Administration Dept. Worker (Adminstrative Fellow) within the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs- Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research.

The population health fellowship provides a hands-on training opportunity in population health, working in academic, health system, community and government environments. Fellows will rotate throughout these various areas, and will also gain exposure to various programs, centers, and schools involved with population health throughout Rutgers, RBHS, our clinical partners, the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health System ( RWJBH) and University Hospital Newark, and other community partners. Traditional course work and professional training opportunities will be initiated based on the background of the fellow, desire for future degree attainment and individual development goals. Upon successful completion of the fellowship, Fellows will receive a certificate of completion by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
The PH Administration Dept. Worker (Administrative Fellow) will have to complete reading material, lecture, workshop and rotation experiences in each of the Core Curriculum Content Areas, which includes: Health Policy and Systems; Population Health Management and Financing; Data, Analytics and Technology; Community Health and Social Determinants of Health; Healthcare Quality, Safety and Value; Leadership; Research, Scholarship and Publication. The curriculum will be tailored to the individual background and expertise of the candidate and the current needs of the sponsoring organizations. A significant emphasis of the program is to provide mentoring and exposure to leadership styles to prepare candidates for taking on a management and leadership role in the future.

Essential duties and reponsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Completes all readings, lectures, workshops, and rotation experiences within each of the Core Curriculum Content areas and provides evaluation.
  • Co-designs a series of projects for each rotation experience related to curriculum content area, the individual's expertise and skills, and the needs of the organization.
  • Contributes to population health communication efforts such as a website for the faculty and partners of the Population Health Fellowship Program and develops content and serves as editor for the Population Health Newsletter.
  • Manages population health projects as assigned and provides written reports, presentations and other communications as appropriate for projects.
  • Attends, provides support for, and participates as a member of the Rutgers Population Health Consortium.
  • Contributes to the growth and improvement of the Population Health Fellowship by supporting the program's evaluation.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Advanced degree such as a Master's or Doctorate degree is required and must be completed before the start of the fellowship.
  • Degree should have an emphasis on Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Social Work, Pharmacy, Health Professions, Health Policy, Business Administration, or other programs with a focus on health and population health subject areas.
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and use independent judgment to provide creative solutions to complex problems.
  • The fellow would be expected to travel to various rotation sites throughout the State.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Analytics or statistical programming skills are preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to exert force up to 35 pounds.
  • Office environment. The fellow would be expected to travel to various rotation sites throughout the State.
