Posting Summary
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate III for the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience at NJMS.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Perform varied research operations relating to the overall investigatory activities of the laboratory or to that position of a laboratory for which he/she is responsible; may conduct independently or as assigned specialized research for a specific project.
  • Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, constantly evaluating existing procedures, revising where necessary, proposing new procedures where required and evaluating suggestions and changes as proposed, in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
  • Participates in the instructing and training of residents, fellows, medical students, research assistants and laboratory technicians in laboratory techniques, physiological procedures and instrumentation to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
  • Ensures laboratory equipment is maintained and in good working order.
  • As directed, assists in the implementation of programs and projects in special areas of interest to the division or department, conferring with the individuals involved.
  • Assists with the preparations of proposals, formal applications and justification for grant application.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards as they appear in RBHS' Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in a relevant science (neuroscience, biology, pharmacology, nutritional studies etc.) plus one (1) year of related research experience.
  • Or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The individual must be organized and capable of multi-tasking.
  • This individual must have good command of the English language and also must have strong writing skills.
  • The PI is looking for a highly motivated individual who can work independently.
  • This position requires experience in biochemical/molecular techniques such as cell culture, immunoblotting, DNA/ RNA preparation and plasmid constructions, qPCR, protein/protein interaction studies, and immunocytochemistry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in neuroscience and cell biology preferred.
  • Multi-tasking several experiments simultaneously and efficient time management is necessary.
