State Park Intern - Washington Crossing Historic Park (College)

As a State Park Intern at Washington Crossing Historical Park, you will gain practical experience in park operations, focusing on environmental education and resource management. Your responsibilities include monitoring and removing invasive species and planning and leading educational programs and events. You will assist the park education staff and museum curator with recreational, academic, and historical programs and events. You will play a role in helping with special events and leading efforts with park volunteers. You will take part in GIS and GPS mapping projects, gaining valuable experience along the way. Attending meetings with park staff will enhance your understanding of regional conservation initiatives, and you will work closely with them to implement an effective maintenance program, ensuring that park grounds, structures, facilities, and equipment are well-maintained and operating at their best.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment; not to exceed 37.5 hours a week.
• The employment period will occur between the dates of 5/1/25 - 8/29/25.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• May be required to work nights and weekends

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

• Current FULL-TIME enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
  • Engineering
  • Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies
  • Environmental Studies
• An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable.
• Freshman year completed
• Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
• Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university

Additional Requirements:

• This position requires a valid Class C Driver's License.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
