About the Job

Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for delivering existing instructional materials in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to instruct and facilitate learning for public transportation employees. The instructor will deliver two (2) - 10 week courses (per fiscal year) and communicate course materials that are in accordance with established best practices and procedures, and provide well-rounded education to students regarding the programs AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The class will be delivered statewide via video conference and pre-recorded lectures.

Relationships:
- Reports to the Senior Manager of Training and Technical Assistance

Primary Responsibilities
Essential functions of the job include:

20% Curriculum Development
* Update curriculum content for effective education delivery. Existing course curriculum information can be found at https://mnltap.umn.edu/training/catalog/autocad and https://mnltap.umn.edu/training/catalog/civil3d.
* Communicate with CTS to understand different agency needs.
* Utilize course evaluations and student feedback to make improvements and enhancements to training content and delivery.
* Work with CTS to continue course curriculum, content updates and maintenance.
* Work with Training and Technical Assistance Instructor to continually develop best professional training methods.
* Stay informed of new AutoCAD upgrades and features.

80% Instruction/Training
* Work with CTS to strategize schedule, timing, and class materials.
* Lead, present, and provide AutoCAD/Civil 3D training instruction and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
* Use digital tools to provide instruction and feedback.
* Provide appropriate feedback on student questions and course work.
* Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

Casual employment will consist of delivering two 10 week courses, (60 hours teaching and prep time per course) per fiscal year.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Required
* Knowledge of and experience with relevant CAD software.
* Previous experience instructing, teaching, knowledge transfer and providing technical assistance.
* Demonstrated excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Commitment to engaging students in a meaningful way.
* Available to teach mornings and/or days.

Preferred Certifications
- Autodesk Certification
- Experience with a learning management system (LMS) (i.e. Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, 360 Learning)
- Experience with a video conference platforms (i.e. Zoom, Teams, WebEx)

About the Department

The Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) conducts transportation research, education, and engagement in a broad number of areas, including transportation policy and planning, infrastructure engineering, connected and automated vehicles, and safety. These activities are carried out through relationships with University faculty, government agencies, non-profits, and private industry, including an extensive advisory committee structure. The Center is funded primarily through sponsored funds from local, state and national sources, and maintaining long-term funding stability requires strong relationships with various funders and other transportation stakeholders.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $116.67/hour to -$133.34/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Casual employment will consist of delivering two 10 week courses, (60 hours teaching and prep time per course) per fiscal year.
