Clinical Mentor (RN) Medical Surgical

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a RN Clinical Mentor for the Medical Surgical (Med Surg) setting that includes Ortho-Spine, Stroke, Adult Observation, and Medical Surgical. This role is Sign-on Bonus eligible.

Responsibilities:

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Requirements:

• Hours: full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)
• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
