JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Department: Office of the Senior Vice President for Research, Business Development Marketing & Communications

Position Overview: Penn State's Research Enterprise seeks a dynamic and motivated Part-Time Lead Generation Specialist to support our early-stage lead generation and nurturing activities. This role focuses on nurturing leads that arise out of the strategic marketing of the OSVPR Business Development MarComm office, that supports various research areas of Penn State. This role will help nurture and cultivate leads for commercializing our research, research partnerships, and potential research sponsors. The ideal candidate will be adept at nurturing initial leads within industry and professional circles, utilizing both traditional and innovative methods. This position then interact with key stakeholder units to transition the lead to their care for further interactions in the marketing funnel. This position will also work closely with other members of the OSVPR MarComm team who track the progression of leads in Salesforce, helping to maintain frequent updates across the business development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Cultivation: Proactively nurture potential leads for commercialization opportunities, research partnerships, and sponsorship through various channels.
  • Marketing Coordination: Help develop and execute marketing strategies to engage potential leads. Prepare initial marketing materials tailored to different audiences, ensuring alignment with Penn State's research objectives and capabilities.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with various teams to understand their projects and potential commercialization aspects. Regularly report on lead generation progress.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in lead generation, nurturing, sales, or marketing, preferably in a higher education, research, or technology-driven environment.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of lead generation and nurturing techniques and tools.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
    • Proficient in Salesforce or other CRM software.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
    • Knowledge of the research and technology transfer landscape is a plus.

Hours: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week.
