Description

The Department of Sociology at Columbia University invites applications for an open rank position to begin July 1, 2025. This position is conditional pending budgetary approval.

The Department is seeking scholars with an innovative research program and a commitment to outstanding teaching. Field of specialization is open. Ph.D. required at the time of appointment. The appointment may be at the level of assistant professor, associate professor, associate professor with tenure, or professor with tenure. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain an active research and publication agenda and to teach in undergraduate and graduate programs. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Applicants should submit a CV, a cover letter, two writing samples, a brief statement of teaching philosophy, and the names of up to 3 people who could provide a reference (no letters of recommendation are required with the initial application). Applicants should indicate in their CV or cover letter whether they are currently tenured. Salary is commensurate with experience.
