Columbia University in the City of New York: Climate School Location 01 Open Date Nov 13, 2024 Salary Range or Pay Grade $75,000 - $77,336 Description The Center for Climate Systems Research (CCSR) at the Climate School of Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position to study the coupling of interactive ice sheet models within the GISS Earth System Model, with a specific concentration on ice-ocean coupling. The researcher will work to enhance the fidelity and utility of the coupled ice-climate system with the goal of producing credible sea level projections into the future and in paleo-climate contexts. Ice sheet modeling within the GISS model use the Parallel Ice Sheet Model (PISM) and experience with this component is desirable, though not essential. The researcher will present this work at professional meetings and through peer-reviewed publications, while contributing to broader team efforts. Qualifications
This is a full-time, 2-year appointment located at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) near the Columbia University Morningside campus. The target start date for this position is January 2025 with some flexibility. The search will remain open for at least 30 days after the ad appears and will remain open until the position is filled.
