Job Overview:
The Principal AI Product Manager, Technical role combines visionary leadership, deep technical expertise, and strategic thinking to design, build, and deliver AI and ML-driven products with measurable business value and customer impact. Operating at the intersection of technology, data science, and business needs, this role requires a solid understanding of AI/ML technologies, including models, algorithms, pipelines, and MLOps, to effectively guide and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML products.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in conceptualizing, developing, and scaling production-grade AI/ML solutions. They excel at aligning technical innovation with business objectives, crafting strategies that maximize the impact of AI/ML initiatives and driving their successful execution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibilities: Vision, Strategy, and Analysis
- Own the end-to-end product vision and strategy for AI/ML products or features, ensuring alignment with organizational goals in Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain (FP&SC).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business challenges and opportunities that can be addressed using AI/ML solutions.
- Conduct analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to define product success metrics, including model performance, business impact, and ROI.
- Leverage a strong understanding of AI/ML technologies (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning, neural networks, LLMs, RAG pipelines etc.) to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Stay informed on emerging AI/ML trends and assess their relevance and application to the product roadmap via experimentation & POCs.
AI/ML Product Development and Lifecycle Management
- Guide the product development lifecycle, from data exploration and product prototyping to production deployment and ongoing optimization.
- Work closely with the product squad (ML architects, ML engineers, ML engineers, full stack engineers, program management, MLOps etc.) teams to deploy & manage software, pipelines, ensuring model reproducibility, monitoring, and version control.
- Develop and prioritize product backlogs with clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical details tailored for AI/ML development teams.
- Establish processes to measure and improve the quality, accuracy, and reliability of AI/ML models in production environments.
- Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure technical scalability and proper management of technical debt.
Impact Measurement and Success Metrics
- Partner with business teams to understand user needs and translate them into product requirements.
- Actively engage with end-users and stakeholders to gather feedback and refine product features.
- Advocate for user-centric design and ensure AI/ML solutions deliver intuitive and impactful user experiences.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. (Required)
- Master's Degree/Advanced degrees or equivalent industry experience preferred.
Work Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in technical product management, with a focus on AI/ML or data-driven products in Agile environments.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, including deploying and maintaining production-grade models in enterprise environments.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver scalable AI/ML solutions with measurable business impact.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- AI/ML Expertise: Deep understanding of AI/ML Development lifecycle concepts. The product Manager should be able to understand the concepts of pipelines, and technologies such as LLMs, RAG pipelines, LLM Finetuning, Prompt Engineering. The product manager should also be familiar with tools and technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, MLOps frameworks, and Azure & Databricks to be able to guide technical requirement discussions in the knowledge domain.
- Product Lifecycle Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique challenges of AI/ML product development, including data preparation, model training, evaluation, and deployment. Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle and experience managing software products that include AL/ML components.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data, including using SQL, Python, or visualization tools like PowerBI.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage priorities, and drive execution in complex technical environments.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex AI/ML concepts into business value propositions for diverse audiences.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Reforge or similar product management certification & training (highly preferred)
- Technical certifications in AI/ML (e.g., Associate Azure AI Engineer, any Databricks certifications)

Base Pay Range: $139,700 - $252,000
Corporate Bonus Target: 20%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
