Journeyman Data Engineer

Key Role:

Create and maintain an optimal data pipeline architecture and assemble large, complex data sets. Automate manual processes and redesign infrastructure and data handling processes for greater scalability, designing, and implementing optimal extract, transform, and loading processes. Establish and maintain a highly organized meta-data structure that permits joining and analyzing disparate data sets of different types, including transactional, text, and image- and sensor-based data. Build analytics tools to monitor and provide decision support for optimal storage, access, and data flow strategies.Work with analytics product and service teams to identify new data stream requirements to support analysis and machine learning products. Use advanced working knowledge of SQL, Python, or R, as well as experience with cloud-based big data management tools for both structured and unstructured data.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and supporting MS Access databases and Excel, including VBA, Access Macros, and SQL

  • Experience supporting the development and maintenance of SharePoint sites

  • Secret clearance

  • HS diploma or GED and 12+ years of experience in database development and management, Associate's degree and 8+ years of experience in database development and management, or Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience in database development and management

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Naval Aviation databases such as OOMA, DECKPLATE, PsILS, AMSRR, AFAST, ACES,ASM, SHARP, or MSHARP

  • Experience using visualization systems, including Tableau

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
