Description Construction Specialist II Winter Haven, FL Your role in our success will be: The Construction Specialist II provides field oversight of construction activities involving Chesapeake Utilities natural gas Distribution pipeline system. The difference between this job and other Construction Specialist is due to the complexity and project size responsibilities. The role ensures that all subject facilities conform to Company policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements. The role oversees and monitors work performance by company contractors; completes reports while reviewing records and documentation; makes recommendations for corrective actions when necessary and appropriate in the course of business and ensures safety and environmental compliance on job site. This job focusses on natural gas distribution projects at all ranges of complexity and budget level What you'll be working on: Oversees, reviews, and verifies that all construction related activities involving Chesapeake Utilities natural gas distribution pipeline systems and related facilities meet Company policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements. Provides written documentation and complete reports, including corrective recommendations to work in the field and in procedures and policies where necessary Works closely with Project Manager to ensure that all projects are appropriately reviewed, monitored, and verified. Ensures that business relationships with outside contractors and third parties are professional, constructive, and beneficial to all parties. Represents the Company's values in its interactions with all internal and external parties. Verifies that external parties are qualified and certified to complete the field activities that are being performed. Operates in an independent manner and must be able to objectively review each respective situation with a considerable amount of judgment and precision in the field. Supports, promotes and participates in the Company's Mission and Service Excellence initiatives. Provides technical assistance and advice to team members on difficult and unusual problems when necessary. Investigates complaints and follows up to ensure satisfactory resolution. Who you are: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: Seven (7) years' experience in underground utility construction Driver's license: Class E Driver's License Maintains Operator Qualification (OQ) master evaluator Knowledge: Knowledge of operator qualification requirements that are necessary in the field. Knowledge of safety rules, regulations and procedures including Construction Standards and O&M Manuals. Knowledge of safe operation of tools and equipment, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and OSHA regulations. Knowledge of basic principles of natural and propane gases. Knowledge of mapping standards and practices. Working knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable codes, regulations and technical publications including PSC, PHMSA, DIMP and the Company OMC manual. Basic Principles of natural and propane gases. Skills: High level of concise, clear, and objective written and oral communications. Must be proficient in the use of standard business unit software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Windows) Abilities: Ability to review craft skills certificates, PE fusion and welder qualifications with OQ program and witness on site testing. Ability to establish strong business relationships with customers and outside contractors. Ability to recognize symptoms and practical solutions to field problems.
