 In the role of Construction Engineer, we'll count on you to: 
      
 Perform complex construction assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard construction engineering techniques and proceduresConduct project field coordination, documentation, cost monitoring, bidding and schedulingReceive, issue and track RFIs, submittals and other required dataBe eager to learn, ask questions, work under and receive direction and supervision from Resident Project Representatives, and Project ManagersConduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, class 1 railroad projects, buildings, facilities, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines (including electrical, mechanical/HVAC and site civil)Monitor, record, and inspect progress on construction projectsCompose reports with a daily log of activities, personnel, and pictures to send to clients dailyConduct or Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testingParticipate in client development and project pursuits, and receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progressCompose reports with a daily log of activities, personnel, and pictures to send to clients dailyWork may require 50% to 100% travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections outside of the Kansas City areaPossibility for Long term project assignmentsWork outdoors and navigate construction sites in all seasonsPerform other duties as needed
 Preferred Qualifications 
      
 A minimum of 3 years' experience in construction engineeringExperience with Steel Structures & Foundations- DPG, Trusses, & TPGFreight Rail Experience and/or DOT Experience Inspection Certifications Knowledge or Rail materials and safety requirementsPerform complex construction assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard construction engineering techniques and proceduresConduct project field coordination, documentation, cost monitoring, bidding and schedulingReceive, issue and track RFIs, submittals and other required dataUnderstanding of Project Management principlesDemonstrated experience in construction and/or construction inspection of Heavy civil infrastructure for DOT, freight or passenger RailroadsAbility to interpret construction schedulesCost analysis experience pertaining to constructionGeneral accounting knowledgePlan/Detail readingPDF editing software such as Revu BluebeamExercise good judgment and discretion, and independently resolve problems and issuesUtilize survey equipment to check and confirm constructionThis position requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law
   Required Qualifications 
      Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field Previous construction engineering experience Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience using Microsoft Office, Estimating & CPM Scheduling Software, and web-based document collaboration software.
