Job Summary Please note: Although this is a hybrid model position, in compliance with our return-to-work office policy, we would require the selected candidate to have the ability to work onsite at least 2-3 times a week.
Oversees the administration and operations of graduate health profession education programs which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, recruitment, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation. Develops, prioritizes and implements strategies that improve program quality, processes, and compliance.
The Associate Administrative Director for Graduate Medical Education (GME) is responsible for supporting the operational goals and education initiatives of the residency program and the ACGME-accredited and non-ACGME fellowship programs in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences. Responsibilities for this working supervisory role include recruitment, training and management of program staff; oversight of all human resources functions for trainees; and ensuring compliance with all national and local accreditation and licensing requirements. In collaboration with faculty programmatic leadership and the Administrative Director, GME, the candidate will also provide support for annual report submissions, trainee recruitment/onboarding and curriculum and evaluation activities. The Associate Administrative Director will serve as backup to the Administrative Director, GME for representation on various leadership and advisory groups at the department/school/campus levels. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $115,00- $138,000 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (Ob, Gyn & RS) is a major academic Department in the School of Medicine, engaged in clinical, research and training activities at the Parnassus, Mt. Zion, San Francisco General Hospital campuses, the Betty Irene Moore Women's Hospital at Mission Bay, as well as satellite locations throughout the Bay Area, with an annual operating budget of $150 million. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of experience / training.
- 3+ years of prior supervisory, managerial or lead experience especially in overseeing teams of two or more team members
- Knowledge of the health professions education industry, administrative analysis and operations research. Knowledge of assigned program requirements and curriculum.
- Knowledge of department, organization, HR and university policies and processes. Current knowledge of relevant industry federal, state and local laws and regulations including national accrediting organizations and state and federal licensing and regulatory offices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in training and guiding employees on educational techniques. Motivates and inspires staff to improve the health profession education services.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment. Ability to organize assigned staff and unit operations in an efficient and effective manner.
- Effective communication skills with peers, learners, faculty, and other education program coordinators / managers.
- Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process.
- Verbal and written communication skills to explain technical health profession / education concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.
- In-depth knowledge of educational software and technologies to promote a wide-range of teaching and learning goals.
- Proven ability to recruit faculty and integrate learners which requires high-level planning and coordination skills, the ability to think strategically and communicate complex information to multiple stakeholders.
- Prior experience in a leadership type position, with responsibilities such as team management, project oversight, and/or strategic planning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in related area preferred
- Experience in understanding and applying policies and procedures in a college/university setting and/or academic medical institution
- Experience with Graduate Medical Education (GME) operations and/or residency & fellowship programs
